would be my first check. My c900 suddenly developed a noisy top end, but the oil light also came on. Removed the relief valve, which did feel a little like it had a speck of grit in, and all was well. On the C900 it is very tricky to get to, but i have no 9000 experience. FWIW, after removing the cover/bolt and the spring, turn the motor over once to push out the valve. The oil pressure pushes it out. i have no idea how much damage this has done to the motor, as i wasn't there when it happened, but unless i heard some actual knocking, i would keep fingers crossed, and try all you can to save it.Good luck, hope this helps.
