I recently replaced the driver's side front sensor. It had been behaving intermittently for over a month. When the light first came on I measured the resistances at the control unit. When I found fault I ordered the part but, as in your case, in the meantime the light did not come on for another couple of weeks.
Note, if you are patient and remove the two bolts that fasten the fender liner to the side of the engine compartment one can with some effort and some swearing thread the cable from the sensor into the engine compartment and secure the grommets while prying the liner away from the compartment. It helps to drop a string from the aquarium and tie it to the cable connector so you can fish the cable up through all the things that are behind the battery.
To free the old sensor after removing its bolt I had to clamp a Visegrip on it and use a large Crescent wrench to twist the Visegrip back and forth while prying with a screwdriver.
