yaofeng, this NTLDR is missing is part of the file system structure i was telling you about...

you cannot copy the partitions of these drives, it just won't work...

NTLDR is a system component of windows that is supposed to reside in a certain area of the hard drive... sectors... etc....

unless you copy the partition to a drive that is the same exact model number drive.... the NTLDR section of the files is going to be assigned a different sector value on the surface of the new drive, from where it had been...

...somewhere on the old drive, the sector value was documented, and since the numbers wont match... it can't find NTLDR and thus...

...you get an error message.

You see, the time you have wasted trying what I told you would not work, and the time you wasted asking for help on saabnet... you could have had windows reinstalled, working, and ALL of your programs reinstalled again AS WELL...

i'm sure you know it's frustrating to give someone advice on here only for them not to take it...

please... trust us next time...

now you have to do this:

Get into your new laptop system BIOS...

Tell the bios BOOT SEQUENCE to start from the CD DRIVE FIRST,

INSERT a valid WINDOWS installation disc...

Start from the disc... follow the instructions...

DELETE the current partition on the drive, DO NOT install to the one that is there

Delete it by pressing D, then ENTER, then possibly L for the "are you sure" page

Once it's gone, hit C for create partition, then hit ENTER twice,

then if it asks, choose NTFS but DO NOT choose the (quick) formatting...

Let it install... and gather your program discs while you wait...

i can reinstall an XO machine and a lot of programs in about 2 hours NEVER more than 3... and i can get a lot of other work done in the meantime... bills, calls, emails on another laptop...

it's really not that bad, and seriously there is no way around doing it this way...
