odd sound after clutch replacement Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Tue, 2 Jun 2009 16:03:56 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I replaced my clutch last week, now there is a weird sound I cannot identify. It's kind of a whirring sound that goes up and down at certain rpm levels, but only under load. When shifting and accelerating, it sounds very much like a police or ambulance siren off in the distance. It almost seems to track boost pressure, because I don't notice it until boost gets above zero, and it's loudest when letting off boost after that point. I've checked all the hoses, and everything I can think of that was removed when the transmission came out, and am drawing a blank. I don't see how it can be the clutch itself or the transmission, because the sound is unaffected by gear selection (therefore trans speed doesn't match the pitch change), the sound is there even with the clutch disengaged after a shift. Any ideas?
