This past weekend I started my first head gasket replacement. The car is a 1995 Aero. I have a few questions that I think should be easy. First, a few compatibility questions related to the 94-98 engine.

- Are Turbo and Non-Turbo valves different?
- I got a NA head off a '94 9000 CS and plan on swapping over the cams. Should I also swap the cam followers and brackets or is just the cam ok?

Second, any experience with valve stem seals... is it worth the trouble? The head pressure tested fine, so I'm reluctant to take out the valves. I have read that these seals rarely fail, but since they came with my HG kit I feel compelled to replace them.

Third, I noticed some weird chipping (for lack of a better term) on the inside of cylinder 2. I can't imagine what this is from, but my compression tested good before taking the head off. I can feel the marks when I run my finger over them. Any experience with this type of defect on the bottom end? All the other cylinders look immaculate. This car has just turned over 180K and I don't have extensive knowledge of the engine work done by the first owner. The second owner got the car at 100K and did no engine work while he owned it. There was blue RTV around the valve cover and oil pan, so I know those parts have been off before.

Any help with any of these topics will be greatly appreciated. Right now I'm in a holding pattern anyway until my new timing chain guides arrive... don't ask :)

Thanks,
Everett
