We own a 2004 9-5 Aero (39,000 miles) and it is my understanding that the PCV systems of the 2004 models were improved over the earlier models, making the sludge issue less of a concern. Also improved in the 2004 models was the SID display, making the loss of display pixels not as big of an issue with the earlier cars. Our car has been relatively problem free, except for the coolant temperature sensor, thermostat and throttle body needing replacement.
