Is this is the car that you had for sale up in Ann Arbor and you decided to fix it? I was thinking of buying it, but wasn't sure if it could be driven to Chicago..........
You wrote about the cylinder 3 journal: "That bearing did show signs of excessive wear". Did you measure the clearance between the journal and the new bearing with Plastigage (preferable) or at least a micrometer (more expensive, less accurate)? If there was wear on the journal, a new bearing won't necessarily fix the issue.
Another wild guess: since there was low/no oil pressure, perhaps the main bearings or journals are damaged, which will require major work.
