Ask the experts...
Tore down my steering wheel to fix some sloppines (1991 S) and I did not seem to think that the lower bearing was too loose (saw that post in the archives) but the steering shaft was definitely not centered in the upper hole where the bracket that holds the stalks is. When I pulled it all out, I think a previous owner had been in there before because there was a washer BEHIND the bearing interfering with the ability of the bearing to ride on the tapered steering shaft which would center it when all tightened back down.
Does anyone have a good exploded diagram of the steering column so I could confirm this?? At least know that the order of bearing and washer and star lock is proper.
Thanks all!
