Julian, first time I've heard about a bump in compression, except of course for the difference between non-turbo and turbo engines. I think all years had the same compression ratio.
The only difference I was aware of was that the block of 93 and earlier models was shorter in length than the 94 and on; otherwise the same bits are used.
Can you confirm your info? It would be good to know that if I'm ever in a position similar to Eric's!
