I have a 97 9k Aero 5sp 283k miles
I picked up a engine code Monday, checked it out and it said throtle pedal position sensor performance. The parts store actually had a TPS in stock so I cleared the code, picked it up, and swapped it out. Yesterday the check engine light came back, and now the car is running pretty rough. It occasionally stumbles under part and heavy throttle, and the idle oscilates between 500 and 1000 rpm. I'll check the code after work today.
Is there more to swapping a TPS than removing the connector and two screws, then popping in the new one? Is the TPS code a semptom of something else? All seemed well on Monday when the code appeared, now it's getting progressively worse. In the past year, I've swapped out the ignition cassette, spark plugs, fuel filter, TPC valve, EGR etc. So it's pretty up to date on maintainence.
