random/disappearing CEL

Back again,

1993 9000CS (non-turbo)

Last spring I started getting intermittent CEL, which went away after I cleaned the throttle body and AIC, replaced all the rubber air intake grommets, and replaced the rear muffler, which had a big hole in it. Seemed at the time that the light would come on during acceleration and turn off when cruising with minimal engine load.

Today, it started up again, haven't driven the car much for the last 6 months. I believe there is an exhaust leak at the flex pipe just beneath/aft of the engine, but I haven't verified. Would this cause a CEL? Do the 1993 cars have diagnostics, meaning, is there a place where I can have engine codes pulled like on my 9-5? I know this predated OBD2, but I'm not sure if there was diagnostic capability before 1998.

I just replaced the main seal on the passenger side, and I have been checking the oil to make sure it's holding, so I know low oil is not a problem. I have not been getting any other warning lights, but they *do* function because they are visible during the start-up diagnostics.

What sensors are there that would cause a CEL?
