One owner's perspective... Posted by vtsnaab [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Unless it's a 98 CSE, Rod ![]() |
I've had 3 Aeros, and a bunch of other 9KTs once I finally came around
from the C900 (and even earlier the 99s).
All my 9KTs have been differently delightful - even the oldest ones; just
as (real) Saabs in general are generally wonderful to drive.
It is NOT about mystique with a properly running 5sp Aero - there ARE
very wonderful driving differences.
Here's my take on it:
Any 9KT is a zoomy car - way beyond it's outer appearance and all of mine
have given me great grins as they've effortlessly zoomed past all manner
of other rigs going up hills on the interstate, with ease.
A 5sp Aero, when well-kept, in stock condition does not zoom - it goes
-Whoosh-, and almost silently flashes by most other rigs more quickly
than their drivers thought any other car had any ability to do - and they
get their drivers smiling helplessly from ear to ear whilst driving in
the most comfortable seats imaginable.
I am admittedly very biased as I consider my '94 Aero to be auto nirvana.
As I've said (no doubt too many times before) I worry a bit about the day
when mine runs out of miles because they are becoming too rare as they
age and cannot be repaired/replaced and/or get smashed and junked - and
if I could manage it I'd buy and store 4-6 of them for future pleasures.
Marvin said it best; Paul added the facts.
Maybe an Aero with an autobox and lower HP is just a CSE with fancy seats;
I wouldn't know about that though because PRNDLs are against my religion !
Best WIshes,
