Was installing a new trans mount. I was tightening one of the two bolts that holds it to the trans (As per my custom...I always tighten a bolt until it snaps and then back it off a 1/4 turn ;-) It went SNAP! Busted the bolt, and the crappy easy-out I had did not work. Had to drop the subframe to get access to drill out the bolt. I tapped the hole to the original size, and the threads are holding for now with a new bolt, although I can tell they are a little looser. I'll have to keep an eye on it.
Anyone know the torque spec for these two bolts?
I think I have to break down and either get an alldata subscription or a Haynes manual. I heard the haynes manual has some incorrect torque specs? I want something that encompasses all torque specs accurately? Even heard a rumor that their is a WIS for the later year ODB2 9000's (anyone ?).
Lesson learned: On small bolts especially, clean all the threads real good with a wire brush. I think the last few threads were rusted, and that gave the bolt an odd feel just before it snapped.
