Been fighting an extended battle with my 91 Turbo Auto 9K. About 2 months ago, concluded I had an inner driver wear issue, as under boost & RH turns, she would thump like a disco. Upon disassembly, found the LH (drivers side USA) inner driver (companion flange to some) had serious wear. I had both axles out, so considering the 180K miles, decided to do wholesale axle replacements while I was in there. I purchased the EMPI new axles (China), a SAAB OEM inner driver for turbo (drivers side unique to the autobox),and also new mounting flange bearing (special order) and seal.

Verified both front wheel bearing assy's.....no sticky spots, smooth when turning by hand, no discernible play.

Road tested Sunday, and NOT good. While the vibes aren't as bad as prior to all the parts, it starts at around 25mph but largely gone by 60mph. Of course, exacerbated under BOOST. Tried a highway driving test with the girlfriend driving, put one foot on both floor pans, and I'd swear the vibes are originating from the RH (passenger) side. When I replaced the RH axle assy, I visually inspected the RH inner driver, and I could only see minimal wear in comparison to the LH side.

I don't really want to take the RH side inner driver, as it looks like a serious PITA. My Haynes manual shows the jackshaft setup which extends out from the autobox diff. to the RH innerdriver.....lots of crap to remove, but I'm running out of things to change.

Anyone else been in this conundrum? Give me some sage advice! Scrapping the car is not an option.....need to get her smooth so hopefully I can sell her next spring :)
