My 87/9000t had the same problem. I pulled the fuse box and removed the burnt wiring and added a heavier gauge wire. One of the problem is the wire on my 87/9000t was insufficient gauge. If you look at the supply wiring going to the fuse holder from the supply line, mine had two different gauges of wire. The fuse block should have a main supply bar in it. Run a bigger gauge wire from the supply (Pos.+) bar. I use a pig-tail fuse holder for marine use and just drilled two holes at the top of the fuse holder block and cut a "U" shape notch for the pig-tails to go through. I'm still able to close the fuse box door. I was very surpised that the wiring to the fan motor was heavier gauge than the 12 volts supply wire feeding it. Rewire from the main supply bar to the fuse holder. My car was only melting fuses and the holder when the heaters blower motor was set on high speed. Rewiring has ended all problems. I just can't figure what Saab was thinking when wiring these fan motors. maybe the later models 9000 addressed this problem.
