Odd Clutch Slipping Behavior Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Mon, 11 Jan 2010 10:54:25 In Reply to: Clutch Slipping Question, Rod [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 11 Jan 2010 09:17:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The usual test for slipping clutch is to stomp on the gas in a high gear, and the engine revs become non-linear to the speed. Pretty unusual for it to slip in the lower gears unless it's really gone.
One wildcard: have you replaced the valve cover gasket on that car? There is a way that oil can get from the VCG to the vent hole on the bellhousing; before I replaced the trans and clutch I would occasionally get some slipping from the oil fouling.
