Apparently I was lucky as my car had full boost, just no internal speedo gear and no speedo / odo. The only fix for the $15 internal speedo gear is removal and full disassembly; or almost exactly equal to the price of isntalling a rebuilt gearbox.
Sadly, in my case, my rebuilt box failed after 9mos (6mos outside the warranty). I'll never buy a rebuilt transaxle again for this car. I didn't knowthey only replaced "visibly" worn parts as opposed to obvious parts that are inexpensive and could cause issues with drivability.
Sadly, your only 2 options are as follows:
replace or fix gearbox at ~$1800+
Drive with base boost and every time you decelerate, learn to stay in gear as long as possible, but blip the throttle slightly as you pull it out of gear at a stop sign.
