is symptomatic of a blown turbo oil seal... Much.. more exhaust smoke than ring/valve guide issues. Yes they can 'go' when the bearing is still in passable condition, as you have now seen for yourself. Wobble? there should be virtually No palpable movement of the turbine shaft in any direction when it's healthy.
