Resolved the foaming issue in a way so easy, have to pass this on.
Encountered the foaming issue after replacing the PS pump.
The basic idea is turning the steering wheel lock-to-lock back and forth several times to evacuate the air in the system.
1. Place several layers of plastic bags underneath the front tires to take away the friction of turning stationary tires. Just place the bags on the ground and roll the car over the bags.
2. Fit a dry gallon milk jug with the bottom cut off, or something similar, up-side-down over the fluid reservoir, mouth-to-mouth. This will contain the spillage issue. Tape it down to prevent tipping over.
3. Fill the reservoir with PS fluid. I did it between the min and max level. This is not critical, not too low for the obvious reason, not too full to limit the potential spillage.
4. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock slowly, back and forth, back and forth. Until the foaming issue went away.
There has been no spillage at all. The foam never topped over the brim of the milk jug.
A word of caution, after the foaming issue is almost over, with the wheel at lock, there is a gush of fluid shooting high up. Be careful with you eyes.
This method avoids the disconnection of the return hose, avoiding the potential of breaking the connection nipple.
