Look up those posts from Dr. Boost, thats what I would have referred you to.
As far as I know, the LH cars don't use *any* feedback from the ignition system, the fuel computer and ignition computers are totally isolated systems.
If your car is in fact the LH+DI (like the DI/APC era turbos) then you should be just fine with the black DI. I'm pretty sure all knock/predetonation info on these cars comes straight from a knock sensor (microphone), and not any of it from the DI.
If I recall the main difference between the two is the red is DC spark, the black is AC. As such the ion-sensing feedback for detection of detonation is where the compatibility problem lies.
