This is an update to a thread I posted a few weeks ago. My car had the headgasket replaced in November and began losing oil and developed noisy lifters at startup shortly thereafter.
I brought the car back to my indy last week, and he found the front crank seal and oil pump o-ring leaking quite a bit. Weird that I never saw oil under the car, but he mentioned that it would leak more while the engine is running with the oil under pressure. I haven't had enough time to check the oil level, but hopefully that solves one dilemma.
As for the ticking lifters, my indy suggested that the leaking crank seal and pump o-ring might be causing a siphon situation...effectively siphoning oil away from the lifters. Not sure if I buy that, but there hasn't been any ticking since the seal was changed. Although it has been much warmer out lately. He said the only other step would be to replace lifers, but not necessary as long as the ticking goes away.
So that's all to report for now. I'll post again if anything else changes.
Oh and go Spyker!
