Oil line leaking at turbo? Help! Posted by Devin [Email] (#2469) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Devin) on Tue, 23 Mar 2010 05:52:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Greetings from the Classic 900 board. My dad's been driving a 97' 9000 LPT for about a year now and it's a great car. However there's a recent massive oil leak and his non-Saab specific indy appears stumped. He says it's leaking at a line from the "oil pan" to the turbo. I assume he means the oil cooler? Don't think the mechanic wants to mess with the turbo . . . so . . .
Before my dad tows it to the Saab mechanic, or gives up and buys a Cavalier, I'm wondering what the consensus is on this board:
Can the gasket and/or oil line fail without the turbo itself failing?
How big a job is the repair?
My research here suggests it's not that big a job, but I'm in New York and my dad's in Pennsylvania.
Thanks, Devin
