Interstate MT-34R doesn't fit; battery for '97 Aero

Last summer, I helped my son replace his battery with an Interstate MT-34R. It fit, but he had to use a flat piece of metal as a hold down, since the car didn't have the standard one. MT-34R was the model listed on the Interstate Battery Web site. I just bought one for my '97 Aero and have found that it doesn't fit with the standard hold-down bracket. The battery is just a tad too wide- the indentations that are supposed to be held by the tray and hold-down are just too shallow.
On the other two Saabs I have, I've used the EverStart 47-3 model from Walmart. It fits just right and, so far, both have been dependable (that's probably why they are currently on Consumer Reports list of recommended batteries).
I'm going to see what Interstate says in reply to my e-mail... for now, I'd have to advise getting the Walmart 47-3.
