Relax, you most likely have not created an issue. There are two potential sources of interference:
(1) The console shifter has a solenoid that requires ignition ON and a depressed brake pedal to permit cable travel. Since you are removing the trans, ignore the solenoid for now and simply remove the circlip and spacer at the end of the cable and disconnect the cable from the trans mounted selector tab (the end furthest from the console).
(2) The parking pawl was set when the shifter selected Park. With the cable disconnected from the trans and the car in the air on TWO jack stands, you should be able to rotate one wheel to unload the pawl and then adjust the trans selector tab by hand to Neutral.
When you install the new trans, manually set the trans selector to Neutral. This will make alignment of the output stub shaft easier. Recommend a smear of Castrol MP lithium grease on those splines prior to insertion. When you've completed all your reassembly, and you've lowered the car to the ground, then set the trans mounted selector to Park postion and you'll be able to reattach the cable.
The Saab 4:2 service manual is a helpful guide, but is somewhat dated for the later cars( some necessary steps omitted). I installed a trans on a 96 9000, recommend pulling the catalytic converter. It makes things much easier.
