Alright. Did a few checks (and other responses):
- Ignition timing is good. I have it at 16 degrees BTDC based on the graduated marks on the flywheel.
- Pretty sure cam timing is good. Idle is smooth.
- FPR holds 25 in.Hg in vaccuum. Does not leak when I blow in throw the vac. line either
- Vac. advance is working and the check valve is working too.
- Car holds a steady 25 in.Hg of vaccuum when you lift off the gas and 20 in.Hg at idle. Doubt there are any vaccuum leaks.
- Boost will steadily build up to 5 psi and then the CEL comes on. I don't feel much hesitation anymore... I just back off when the CEL comes on.
- The most interesting development is that the CEL comes on when I lift off while coasting. More of a guarantee if the engine is braking hard. This pretty much tells me its NOT the fuel pump. And based on above, not the FPR either.
- Does not seem to be temp. related. Happens cold or warm.
So questions:
- When does the CEL come on, on a 1988?
- Is there a diagnostic mode I can get the car into to pull any codes? Does it store codes?
Based on the above, I can only think of: AMM, O2 sensor, leaking injectors?
Thanks for the help so far - any more pointers?
