It's not all that bad if the head is already off. Just undo all gazillion bolts and don't force anything. Be careful not to bunch up the timing chain while turning the crank. It can wedge itself in the guides and break them pretty easily. Luckily I found this out on the junkyard car I pulled my timing cover from and not my own. Get yourself a tube of anerobic sealant for when you need to seal the cover back up. I did mine without dropping the oil pan, but it was tricky... used a big pry bar to lift the engine enough to get a socket on the front right oil pan bolt. Otherwise it's kinda tucked inside the subframe member.
There's a pretty good writeup on the Quasimotors (mirror) site. I don't have the link handy though. Good luck with that! It should be fine if you take your time and think about what you're doing.
