It's sometimes hard to see the wonderful benefit in owning such a misunderstood car. I realized the other day that I hadn't checked into the boards for awhile. The car is just doing everything well. It even seems like I'm pulling a few extra pounds of boost too.

And for people that are shopping, here's what my car looks like right now:

Driver seat heater working, passenger switches intermittent. I've got both switches hanging slightly out of the dash b/c they're such a pain to get in and out.

The "new" to me driver headlight just picked up a massive crack courtesy of an errant stone. Thankfully I only had to wait 2mos with that pristine lens before the new crack showed up.

Although my headlight washers are in place, both are unplugged as I've grown tired of the teasing my friends give me when they get lazy and refuse to return to the rest position.

I still can't get the sunroof to close fully at highway speed without a massive whistling noise. Aside from yanking the entire assembly out (I learned that lesson from my Scirocco; no thanks!) I have to first slide it forward, then raise it, then lower my window to reduce cabin pressure, then close the roof, then put my window up.

Passenger seat bottom is ripped out. Need to take the time to pull it out and take the cover to an upholstery shop.

The Cruise Control still doesn't work. It's been years since it has. The system seems to hold vacuum when I suck on the hoses. I think it must be faulty pin switches at the pedals. I never seem to remember to check for spares at the wrecking yard. I guess if Cruise control were important, I would have fixed it before either trips from Portland to San Diego. Or maybe I would have fixed it before that trip to Tahoe. At any rate, it wasn't a significant enough issue to make me want to take the Infiniti G35 sedan (I can't justify the ~22MPG on a trip). You just can't beat the turbo for highway hauling and mileage.

I still have an issue with one of the two tail light bulbs where the socket has broken and won't hold the bulb properly. I have been driving with the rear lamp warning on the pictogram for months. I'd kind of like to have that fixed, but, it always seems low on the list.

I'm at ~250K miles and my 3rd transaxle. I really regret how much I enjoy this car. It may not fit in with all my neighbors and their Acura's, BMW's, and SUV's, but any feelings of envy disappear when I stand on the gas in 2nd or 3rd gear. Now I've got another Saab. A friend's 9-5 that I got for a song. That's been another level of maintenance. I've already had to do things to that one, I've never even thought of on mine.
