Well, you have a problem- not a huge one (the compressor is still doing its thing). However, like derf said, you have a major leak.
At 25 psig, you can get 134a into the system, but I don't think that is happening because you don't see a pressure rise. But, you also say that when the stat calls, the suction pressure goes to 0. Not good, because if you are going - (vaccuum) and you have a leak, then you are sucking air into the system and air is not condensable! So, it will lay in the bottom of the condenser, robbing capacity (cooling).
So, unless you want to know far more about a/c systems than you care to and you just want a cold car (you're too used to winter), do like Marvin said and take it to a GOOD a/c shop. Ask around and get satisfied customer references. Tell 'em you have a leak- fix it. Hopefully, they will find a leaking fitting, but you may have a leak in more costly areas: Rating between BOING and OUCH- Compressor seal (new compressor, likely but some shops will replace the shaft packing), condenser, evaporator, hose set, Filter/drier, or TXV. Replacing any of these will require the system to be cracked open, evacuated and recharged.
But, on the bright side, you will be able to experience winter all summer long!
All the best,
Kev
