First question is your 9K an Auto or 5 speed manual?
Manual transmission..Remove the bottom edge of the shifter boot from the shifter trim ring. Then remove the single screw at the top of the shifter trim ring, it will be underneath the boot. Then pull the boot up, and next lift the top edge of the ring up towards you and pull the bottom edge from the center console and remove.
Auto transmission...Remove the two screws in the back of the gear selector handle and pull it straight up. Then remove the small trim cap on the top edge of the shifter cover. Then remove the screw. To remove the cover, push down on the white plastic piece sticking out of the metal shift lever and put the car into "3". Lift the front edge of the shifter cover up and pull it so the bottom edge clears the center console. Then take the light socket for the gear selector light out of the cover. Then shift the car back into Park and take the cover off.
