You are probably not really trying!
As you know, expensive cars like Saabs don't become cheap to run because they are cheap to buy. Everyone will have a different view of the economics. I spend a bit every year on my car because I know I would have to spend a lot for something newer and less satisfying. The point at which you stop - well, I haven't reached it yet and the things you mention are pretty normal for any vehicle that age.
Having said that, if I were buying an Aero or any other 9000 for that matter I wouldn't personally go for a '93. It's the first year for Aeros, but also a transitional year for Trionic, and the last year of the longer engine block. They also seem, anecdotally, to have their share of electrical problems, particularly caused by corrosion.
I qite like the 9-5, roomy, comfortable and so forth - but lacking the personality you find in the 9000.
