Has anyone noticed overall reliability?

There's no argument that Saabs (like any other European make) are more maintenance intensive than some other brands, especially the Asians. But on the other hand they are amazingly durable and overall very reliable. We have four Saabs in our family, all but one with over 150K, and other than age-related failures and stuff simply wearing out, they mostly only require normal maintenance.
With a 9K (I have 2) you have a car that's at least 12 years old, probably with six numbers on the odometer. It may or may not have been well-maintained by its previous owners. If it was, you are dealing mostly with stuff that wears out. If it was not cared for, you have a lot more on your hands. My sympathies!
It is important to get a 9K (or any Saab) that was well-cared for, then keep it well. And it will keep on running. It WILL take more to do that than a Toyondaruzdassan, but you also have a whole lot more car.
