Project Aero - put a new battery in last December and have driven her about 1k mi since. Not a primary driver, but I do take her to the train station periodically and try to use her on the weekends. Battery has been fine, despite occassional stretches of sitting, until last Wednesday.

Drove to the train station, locked the car for the day, came back 9ish hours later, unlocked the car, started up as usual, drove home. Town was repaving the street, so I could not pull into the driveway. Parked around the corner for about 2 hours until they were gone, locked car, came back, turned key and... wierd, no power unlocking all doors... open door, DARK. Key in ignition, turn key, nothing. Jump started, radio beeping, clock reset... definitely a dead battery. Pulled into driveway, put my trickle charger on for a couple hours, next day I open the door to check if it held a charge and the lights were dim, bad sign.

On Saturday I put the charger back on and let it go until it read complete charge. Didn't try to start the csr, but swear I did a door check again and the lights were still dim. Figured the battery was shot and would have to go exchange, which I never got time to do the rest of the weekend. I seem to recall opening the door again on Sunday and the lights looked fine, but was busy with yard work and just filed this conflicting evidence as an anomaly.

This morning (Wednesday, one week later) - house painters arrive and suggest I move the car - I grab the keys, thinking I would have to put the quick starter on, but figured I would verify the battery was drained first. Opened the door, lights were bright, put the keys in the ignition and she started right up - odd?

The car was not locked when parked in the driveway, so I am wondering if somehow the alarm drained the battery? The problem with this theory is the car was alarmed all day when it first died, started fine, then was parked for a relatively short time and then went flat the same day.

Battery cables? Dirty contacts? Flaky battery? Flaky alarm?
