Steering Rack Movement/Bushing Options

Probably a stupid question here but I have a noise that I've pretty much tracked down to worn a steering rack bushing on the drivers side. It makes a clicking noise when the wheel is rocked back and forth. I've checked mounting bolts and nuts, and the u-joint on the inside of the car. It definitely coming from the rack on the drivers side. I actually went out and got new nuts with nylon inserts hoping that may tighten things up a bit.
CV joints, ball joints, control arm bushings have all been replaced fairly recently. Steering wheel movement is fine, no varying tightness or looseness in its travel.
Now for my stupid question, has anyone tried to tighten up the rack without removing the rack and pressing out the bushing? Not exactly excited about removing the rack just for the noise, but it bugs the crap out of me. Just wondering if anyone has tried any outside of the box method for tightening it up? For those who have replaced the entire rack, is it worth it for just the bushings? Should I be talked off the ledge? Thanks guys...
