in my 900 days I routinely soldered a shorting wire across the resistor. Out of pure obstinancy I suppose, as I never liked the idea of a resistor in there :-)
In truth though the rotors on the c900's and early 9ks were DURABLE I replaced only 2 in 20 years of owning distributor saabs. Partly because these were Expensive due to their rarity (wee shaft hole) as otherwise were identical to VW ones. I'm wondering if it actually was the rotor rather than the Hall effect gizmo OR (more even more likely )it's external connector plug.. failing?
