You have most likely have a stuck accumulator spring in the valve body, there are two possible candidates affecting the band. It is also possible that a valve associated with the lockup of the torque converter has failed. To know absolutely what is going on requires measuring the line pressure at the ZF port dedicated for this. Call Nat at Eriksson's in Connecticut for more advice.
When I diagnosed my transmission problems prior to its failure, I purchased both the Saab 4:2 service manual and an ATSG servicing guide that specifically included a schematic for the valving. To be direct, I only use Castrol DexMerc ATF (Dexron 3) fluid in my new transmission from
Eriksson. Based on what I have read, the seals in the ZF 4HP18 were not designed for synthetic fluids, and I refuse to use them.
That new Eriksson transmission has been fabulous for more than seven thousand miles.
