When I had '92 and older 9KT's I always enjoyed hearing the turbocharger when the window was open - it is a very pleasant sound !
My '94 is much quieter though - barely audible at all.
Funny thing:
On the older cars I never had one quit on me no matter how much louder they were.
-BUT-, on the '94, the quieter one seized up one time (it was possible to clean it up and free it and it's been OK since...).
I do always allow about 30 seconds warm up and cool down times with all my cars owing to their age and the cooler climate in Vermont; warmer oil simply flows better and I want my rigs to always get the best lubrication !!!
Best Wishes.
