But my indy lifts it up, uses bungees or a strap to hold it, and pulls out the core. What you have to be careful of is the metal pipes that go to the evaporator. They can get fragile. But the whole unit will move more than it appears.
When I did mine I just yanked the whole evap since the a/c system was dead with multiple failure points. No R134 to lose anyway.
However, a core can be kinda stuck, so you might need to do some wiggling and leveraging to get it loose.
