I'd be more than happy for you to ship those "awful" wheels my direction :)
Not sure how much issue you have clearing the calipers, but you can grind some material off them if need be. That might necessitate repainting them, but at least you'd be able to keep those wheels.
Also, as for the spacers V. ruining wheel bearings argument, I wouldn't worry about that. A) it's not tough to replace the wheel bearings while they are still in the car if you use the Schley Wheel Bearing tool and B) I think some people are drastically overestimating the impeding doom & damage that adjusting the offset will have on your bearings. There will be some negative effects, but it won't be absolute carnage.
