First, are you certain it's the slave? If so, you should have brake fluid loss and fluid coming out of the bottom of the bellhousing. Be darn sure it's not the master or connector hose first!
The job doesn't require special skills or tools beyond a very good tool set, it's just a lot to remove and put back together and some things are fiddly. You'll need to build an engine cross bar (I used a 4x4 with 2x4 supports and ratchet straps to hold up the ending and lower the transmission). The site below will walk you through everything in detail.
Think about installing a clutch kit and resurfacing the flywheel if you've got a lot of miles on the clutch. Use ONLY a OEM slave. This isn't something you'll want to do twice. I'd allow two full days for the job. Two weekends if you can and want to go slowly, especially if you want to get the flywheel machine.
Dive in and enjoy yourself. It's a satisfying job once you're done and you'll feel like learned a lot.
