I don't know this for sure but it might be that the difference between the two sensors for manual transmission could be with or without gold plated pins.
Saab added gold plated pins for sensitive signal transfer to make it work better and the 95 had all the latest gadgets from factory.
I would think it is difference in potentiometer logics between manual and automatic so that might not work.
I would still look carefully at throttle body and do a bench test of the throttle motor first to make sure the problem doesn't lie there.
Or at any of the many vacuum hoses.
