This happened to me too. What you will most likely find (or have already found) is that the reason it fell into the dash is because the plastic flange around the edge of the button has gotten brittle and is now cracked off, and the button fell into the dash. I've tried carefully gluing this, and it didn't work, so I ended up replacing the switch.
Stick your finger into the now empty hazard light switch hole, and push the trip computer out from behind with your finger. That's what I did, just a bit of wiggling and it popped right out. You can now fish around for the hazard light switch behind the dash. It can be disconnected from its plug and pulled out through the trip computer hole, where you can confirm the damage.
