My 1990 CD developed 5 speed tranny whine at 160k and I seriously considered moving on to a 9-5 or 9-3. Checked a few out and test drove both and really wasnt impressed. The issues to have to look out for especially sludge really made me decide to keep the 9k. I have decided to pull the tranny this spring and drop it off at Erikkson for a rebuild (I am in CT so there local). The 9k has its down falls but compared to especially the 9-5 (its replacement). Sludge, bad oil pump/strainer design, early turbo failure, hvac flap motor faults, sid issues, the list goes on. I just feel the 9k is so solid that I have made the decision to keep her going. I honestly feel besides the tranny this car still a lot to go and just cant let it go. I especially thank this board for it insight as it as been a invaluable resource in keeping her going. Thanks again Saabnet.
