Binding throttle cable in Albuquerque

This is in my '96 CSE 5-speed that my daughter has in Albuquerque at the moment.
The throttle cable needs more than normal pressure to do the job. It doesn't stick, just needs a firmer foot. It has been like this for awhile. The throttle plate and other parts at throttle body seem fine, and last spring before we went west I lubricated the "hinge points" near the pedal. That helped some, but I suspect the cable just needs replacing.
Anything else to be checking or considering before I fork over $200 for the indy out there to do the job?
