'96 CS Auto 170K miles. Working on the passenger side. Front end is raised and supported on jack stands, Right front wheel is off, the 3 upper strut bolts are tight. Of the two lower bolts, removing the bottom bolt is no problem at all. But the upper bolt can't be driven out. The nut is loose. The bolt can be turned, although it doesn't turn freely. The nut is still on the end of the bolt to protect the threads as I smack the nut with a 20 ounce hammer to drive out the bolt. It has moved no more than 1/16" after many blows.
I've tried to drive out the bolt with and without using the jack to support the weight of the control arm. Have applied PB Blaster, although there is no visible rust.
Have not tried swearing yet, but getting close. Any ideas what is binding on this bolt or how to drive it out?
