Maybe the steering is jamming the key cylinder. Try tugging hard one way on the steering wheel, while trying to push in and turn the key.
Then try tugging the wheel the other way, also while trying the key.
Could anything have gotten into the keyhole to jam things? I bought a car once that had a safety pin broken off inside the lock, where someone had tried I guess to pick it. I got hold of it with needle nose pliers and got it out.
Last thought: I know you wouldn't probly make this mistake, but are you sure you're using the correct key?
