Why is SAAB synthetic a bad choice for manual trans? I've used this oil in my 93 aero since I had a used tranny (the third one) installed in 2000. Never been flushed/ changed in 10+ yrs and after over 200K of hard unforgiving brutal spleen jarring miles I can tell you saab synthetic works for me. I'm not about to mix or switch to 10w30. I think once you start with one particular oil in the transmission - just stick with it. Makes sense to change/ flush if you can. If not dont lose sleep over it.
I did blow up a perfectly good 900 spg tranny in the 90's using effing redline MTL. 3rd gear cluster just exploded. Redline water wetter and the fuel injection cleaner work as advertised but MTL is pure evil.
