This issue took me as much time as almost the entire rest of the clutch replacement job in my 97 CS :-)). What a crazy design! A tapered pin bolt ensures a big hassle to remove.
Drilling it out would be very difficult/impossible. I ended up using a vibratory point air tool to finally pop it out, and even with that it took repeated attempts....big time PIA.
I keep that sheared-off-at-the-nut tapered pin on my desk to remind me that any frustrating work projects are really not that bad :-).
