Age old Q: bleeding brakes (long post)

Hi,
I'm struggling with my brakes on my 94 9000CSE (with ABS.) Should I get the Motive bleeder? Anybody know a European reseller?
I've replaced both rear calipers and flexible hoses, bled the system (or so I thought) but still have very spongy brakes. Initially the pedal feels hard but the next moment it gets mushy, sinks to the floor and a hissing sound is heard from the engine department.
I've tried pressure bleeding with a bicycle inner tube + pump, this took ages (more than one coffee) but succeeded in (eventually) getting clean fluid from the bleed nipples. I was not convinced because on one caliper I never saw any air bubbles traveling in the tube coming from the bleed nipple. I then drafted my wife (yes she is that great) to try the 2 man (m/f) method, but again couldn't get air bubbles in the bleed tube.
I had to cut off the steel brake line at one flexible hose because everything had completely rusted solid (exhaust side.) It's entirely possible the problem is in the new connection I made, but I did not see fluid leaks there.
I've never done all this before so many new things for me. Any tips and advice greatly appreciated.
Ferenc
