Eeuro sells it for about 15 bucks. Impact grade. It's very nice.
The process:
Before doing anything, rotate the engine until the timing marks on the trans case and flywheel are aligned.
1. drain the coolant and remove all accessories from the belt area.
2. Remove turbo and exhaust manifold, making note of where the manifold studs go
3. Remove intake manifold and intake parts
4. Remove injectors and fuel rail. Keep everything attached if you can, and suspend it from the hood with string.
5. Remove the DI cassette and valve cover.
6. Using zip ties, secure the t-chain to the sprockets. Stick a flat wrench through the left side of each sprocket to keep them secure and unbolt. Let them rest in the head, or suspend them with string from the hood so they can be easily navigated through the opening during head removal.
7. Using the E-16 socket, remove the 10 (?) Head bolts and throw them away.
8. Lift the head off the block, and get a helper to slip the t-chain and sprockets through the hole.
9. Put tape over all the oil and coolant holes on the block and scrape the residue. This prevents junk from falling into the pathways.
10. Scrape the head and test for trueness using an accurate straight edge. Get it machined if necessary.
11. Put the new head gasket on, making sure it's right-side-up, and reverse the process. Follow Haynes' 3-step torque sprocedure for head bolts.
Replace every gasket you removed, including intake and exhaust manifold, turbo flange thing, and valve cover. Also replace the head bolts as they stretch and become compromised.
I'm doing this from my phone, so I may have missed something. Anyone else?
Good luck. I can't stress enough the importance of keeping everything timed correctly...my first head job I advanced the intake sprocket a tooth and wrecked the valves.
