It depends on how one defines "need". Aside from a piece of paper saying it wasn't in spec, I'm not convinced it needed the camber adjusted in the first place. I wasn't having and handling or tire wear issues. The reality of the situation is that 99% (or more) of the places doing wheel alignments don't even have the capability of measuring to the tolerances allowed in the specs (at least for Saabs, perhaps other cars have wider tolerances, I have no idea). They also never have their measuring systems checked or calibrated. So that piece of paper, in my opinion, has about as much bearing on the need for a camber kit as a picture of a rainbow. I recently had to get my car to pass a four wheel alignment because it has a rebuilt title and I moved to a new jurisdiction. The Saab dealership gave me a failure report, but said it was "fine" because 80% of the cars they check fail. Unfortunately, the registering body didn't buy the "fine" theory, although it sounded reasonable to me - why should a re-built car have to pass a test that 80% of the cars on the road won't pass? The solution: I took it somewhere else, got COMPLETELY different readings, and it passed. Obviously one or both of the places' readings were wrong. My money is on both, and I'd bet more money that if you took the same car to three randomly selected wheel alignment shops you'd get three different sets of readings, none of which match within the test tolerance, because their measuring tolerance EXCEEDS the test tolerance. It's like trying to measure to the nearest mm when your ruler only has increments of cm. I didn't start out with the intention of writing a rant, but oh well, there one is.
